As part of the FOSTER – Fostering Food System Transformation project, BioSense Institute, in collaboration with the Delta Foundation and Mokrin House, organised a study visit to the Vas region in northwestern Hungary. The visit was carried out in cooperation with the Hungarian project partner Local Pannonian Product (PLP).

During the programme, participants learned about innovative approaches to beekeeping, organic farming, agricultural product processing and rural tourism. Practical examples demonstrated how local resources can be used effectively to create added value, diversify farm activities and strengthen short food supply chains.

Particular attention was devoted to connecting agricultural production with tourism and educational services. Participants had an opportunity to explore how traditional production methods can be successfully combined with contemporary business models and adapted to current market needs.

The examples presented during the visit demonstrated how sustainable resource management, entrepreneurship and cooperation among local stakeholders can support rural development and contribute to the improvement of local food systems.

The study visit also facilitated networking among producers and other relevant stakeholders, while encouraging cross-border knowledge and experience exchange. In this way, the visit supported one of the main objectives of the FOSTER project: the development of more sustainable, resilient and interconnected food systems.
